The
historical centre
On the Bargagli public square is
the income to the Church of Saint Francisco.
The origin of this church goes back to first of XVI the century; you the Franciscans who
had on the near necks the monastery of S. Bartolomeo in Solaia, founded from S. settled
down themselves then Francisco.
The Cloister attests the fourteenth century origin, not only for some gothic elements, but
also for one given it specifies recorded in capital (1341) and the rests of one fresco
representing fourteenth century an Angel.
In 1462 Devout II he transferred the church of the Conventuali to Observing, which could

shapes simplified and discharged the spirit of the Rossellino.
The beautiful Bell tower also was rifared that age.
The church after several vicissitudini has been restored. To the inside, to a single one
aisle with ceiling to trusses, is a remarkable work: the Triptych represents the Madonna
with the Child between S. Giovanni Batiste and S. Giovanni Evangelista, in the cuspid the
Annunciation, operates of Jacopo di Mino of the Furrier, of which news between the 1344 is
had and the 1389, senese painter who gives an original roughness reached to one firm
nobility of shapes.
From Piazza Bargagli it is gone up in
Public square of the Town hall.
On the left the Communal Palace, whose fourteenth century origins appear on the flank of
the construction.
To right, for Rome street, beautiful Palazzo Piccolomini of XVI the century, than although
much rearrange, denunciation still, above all to the inside, its beautiful rinascimentale
structure.
Continuing reaches itself the church of S.Martino in Hole.
The ancient church was destroyed in the 1844 and later on reconstructed one.
To the inside the Madonna with the Child of Jacopo di Mino of the Furrier, perhaps its
beautifulr work.
The Announced one is of the Beccafumi, operates much remarkable in the fluid and movement
disposition of the images, set up on a wide and solemn architectonic background that s' it
opens to the center of an evocative landscape.
Returned in Public square for
Garibaldi Course, it is reached the Church of Saint Lorenzo.
Its origins go back to XIII the century, as they attest to some remainders in the passage
between the Church and the Sacrestia.
The inside was modified to the times of the Bishop Rags of Sluices, during XVIII the
century, was left the big windows along the sidewalls, but they were sluices the two big
windows to sides of the arms of the cross; the church was turned and the walls were
strengthened with the construction of the lateral nails head.
Behind the altar it is the wooden chorus, whose dedicatory registration was dictated from
the grandsons of Devout III, unfortunately are little visible the inlays of the chorus in
how much in the past centuries had been entire painted.
In the Sacrestia the some beautiful pieces of silvervare of the ' 600 and rich and ancient
sacred parameters are visible.
On piazzetta before the church there is
Palazzo Cennini, whose original construction goes back to XV the century, but was
transformed in XVIII the restored century and of recent.
Continuing for the way rooms to the Castle, solid fortress and stony, enough very
conserved that it goes back to XIII the century.
