Annual exhibitions of graphic and pictorical art

Every year, in the sixteenth century consular hall, the Municipal Administration and the Pro Loco organise a meeting with a great Master of contemporary art, stating this way a happy communication between the creative tension of the yesterday artists and the nowadays ones. From Manzù to Guttuso, Clerici, De Chirico, Cagli, from Carrà to Greco, Marini, Vespignani, Salvatori, Mattioli ; these are some of the Masters that the exhibition had the honour to guest.

Exhibition of the Plants Market

In the month of may, hurserymen and schools of the sector give themselves appointment to propose inside the town beautiful floral scenographies inspired at the renaissance art. At the same time there are painting exhibitions with floral thematic.

Cheese Exhibition

Following a very aicent tradition, the first Sunday of September there is a cheese exhibition. Pienza has always been considered the "Capital" of sheep’s milk cheese, thanks at its position in the centre of a clayey zone (the Valley of Orcia), where ovine pasture is characterised by a series of herbes that make milk kind of delicate and perfumed. Economy of this area has always been connected at sheep farming, as a matter of fact, in archaeological excavations there have been found finds that point out the presence of a big number of ovines.
