Museum of Montepulciano
The museum was a donation by the patriarch Francesco Crociani(1859). The Crociani collection is not only interesting for its individual pieces, but also the collection as a whole is an interesting example of the taste in antiquities which was common among the aristocracy of the 18th and 19th Centuries. Many of these notable private collections in many large museums.
The older works include a San
Francesco by Margarito d'Arezzo, a Virgin with Angels of the Duccesca school, a
large Coronation on the Virgin by Jacopo di Mino del Pellicciaio, a standard with a
Crucifixion by Luca Tommè. The first and second-floor rooms also contain some
lovely Etruscan cinerary urns. These objets were found in the area around Montepulciano.
